POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Senior Director, Team Operations and based in OverActive Media’s Toronto Headquarters, the Team Coordinator, Toronto Defiant, is an integral member of the OverActive Media team – helping to ensure all operations of the franchise are in line with OverActive Media’s policies and processes. The successful candidate must be based in Toronto and have valid documentation to work in Canada. This is a part-time, fixed-term contract requiring 25 hours of work per week, effective until December 31, 2024. 

We’re looking for: 

A Self-Starter – The successful candidate will work very closely with our Team Operations Department and Toronto Defiant Head Coaches but will also be expected to work autonomously to manage their own projects/time appropriately, in order to meet the fast-paced demands of our business. 

A Team Player – Someone who is ready to hit the ground running with a talented and experienced team of professionals, who has the ability to absorb and apply constructive criticism. 

An Esports Fan - Esports knowledge and/or being an avid gamer is required.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

GENERAL

Day-to-day duties for this role will include:

Team Operations

  • Lead day-to-day operations and logistics of the Defiant franchise, including but not limited to franchise housing, travel, meals, scheduling, and training camps. 
  • Manage player equipment needs including but not limited to PCs, peripherals, uniforms, merchandise, and sponsor-provided items. 
  • Directly responsible for contracted Defiant support such as cleaning services, personal trainers etc., 
  • Manage communication channels for our integrated support team to work seamlessly with Defiant coaching staff and players. 
  • Supporting the team performance unit in executing around topics like nutrition, exercise and sleep. 

Team Personnel & Financial Administration

  • Create and adhere to budgets for the Defiant franchise in conjunction with the Head Coach and Senior Management. 
  • Track and submit payroll, prize money and performance bonuses for Toronto Defiant, to the finance team. 
  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly financial reporting. 
  • Maintain up-to-date player records to include contracts, reports on player behaviour, tax/benefit paperwork, etc.

OAM Business & League Administration

  • Monitor all player’s social media regularly to ensure organizational and partnership standards are maintained, flagging any issues/concerns to the Senior Director, Global Team Operations and the OAM Marketing/PR Team immediately. 
  • Coordinate with coaches to manage player responsibilities outside of the game. 
  • Attend events as a Team Coordinator as needed to support our players and coaches at tournaments, matches & events. 
  • Main liaison between the team and the League during the Season and act as the first point of contact for them during the competitive Season. 
  • Execute long-term strategic planning in coordination with the Team Operations department and OverActive Media Leadership. 

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

QUALIFICATIONS AND CRITICAL SKILLS

Education & Experience

  • Experience in esports and/ or team operations is considered an asset.  

Skills & Abilities

  • Passionate and knowledgeable about Overwatch trends and game updates. 
  • Exceptional organizational, time management and communication skills (both written and verbal) with the flexibility and experience required to adjust to rapidly changing schedules and shifting priorities. 
  • A hands-on problem solver and critical thinker with strong attention to detail. 
  • Motivated by highly collaborative, fast-paced environments, with the ability to balance several projects simultaneously. 
  • Relationship builder, networker extraordinaire.
