Our mission is to connect game studios and publishers with their communities by harnessing the power of UGC. And we’re doing it; our platform is embedded in over 150 games, including some of the biggest and best games in the world. Games like Deep Rock Galactic, Snowrunner, and Dying Light 2, and we support over six-and-a-half-million monthly users.



What is the role?

We are looking for a Financial Accountant to join our team. This is a hands on role where you will be responsible for ensuring mod.io is complaint with relevant financial legislation and regulations and for the administration of all of mod.io's finances and accounts.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Provide advice and guidance on accounting practices to ensure mod.io remains compliant with relevant financial legislation and regulations as we grow
  • Take the initiative to improve current accounting processes
  • General Ledger reconciliation
  • Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
  • Bank reconciliation
  • Employee payroll and reimbursements
  • Contractor statements of work and invoice payments
  • Processing Superannuation, IAS and BAS
  • Tax returns in collaboration with our external accountants
  • Payroll tax
  • Insurance, including Workcover in relevant states and various business insurances
  • Management of funds including currency conversions and transfer of funds between interest bearing bank accounts to maximise working capital
  • Update lightweight process and policy documentation as needed
  • Investor reporting
  • Any other general bookkeeping as required by a growing start up

What are we looking for in candidates?


We are looking for humble, enthusiastic, self-starters who take ownership over what they create and will help us shape and improve the company. Even if you don’t match the qualifications exactly, if you’re confident you can do the job, or can grow into the role, please throw your hat in the ring.

For this role, we need someone who is passionate about accurate accounts, with great communication skills and an eye for detail.

We are looking for a hands on Financial Accountant who has:

  • Been the sole accountant or book keeper in a company
  • Been an advisor / internal financial expert within a company
  • Has an excellent knowledge of new requirements triggered by growth, and the details of these thresholds eg: Payroll Tax, FBT etc.
  • The ability to independently foresee and prepare for any upstream and downstream impacts associated with new transactions and initiatives
  • Extreme accuracy and precision, and loves detail
  • Advanced Google Sheets knowledge
  • Great people skills and is able to ensure compliance with processes while maintaining strong, healthy relationships

It would be awesome if you also have:

  • Experience working in an agile environment
  • Experience working in a small, growing start up
  • Experience with Quickbooks
  • A passion for video games
