As a Concept Artist Co-Op reporting to the Art Director, you will:

Responsibilities

  • Work with the concept art director, artists and designers to learn creating concept art to explore and propose visual solutions from simple to complex problem.

  • Learn through an LOQ (level of quality) process of refinement, starting with sketches, developing color studies and finishing with refined final paintings and asking for feedback on each step.

  • Gather and review needed photographic reference material following the general art direction to add important details and build believability in your concepts.

  • Support and produce "paint over" on existing assets and grey box design intentions to improve the themes or add more life or interest.

  • Learn vocabulary around art, including topics such as: composition, proportions, architecture style, visual design, and color to participate in reviews to improve your work. (English is the required language of work.)

  • Work to different, targeted levels of completeness as determined by the AD for an assignment.

Qualifications

  • You are currently enrolled in a college or University degree granting program 

  • You are eligible to work in Canada
  • Ability to work in a range of visual styles and techniques

  • Provide examples of game props concept art and/or environment concept art for game, and/or fashion and accessories branding

  • Show strong skills in traditional illustration and drawing in multiple media

  • Candidates should already demonstrate proficient skills including good use of shapes, proportion, line, light, shadow, and color
